Camaro SS Hp Ratings

RE: Camaro SS Hp Ratings
Actually the center exit exhaust is the most restrictive one you could get. The SLP dual/dual was the best. THEY DON"T MAKE MORE POWER, how many times do I have to say this???? If you think I don't know what i am talking about go ask this question on LS1tech.com
What buttons? My car was an M6 and there are no buttons to push.....a stalled auto will simply get out of the hole a ton quicker than an M6.

Yea because the m6's driver needs to push all those damn buttons[:@] My father in law has one and it requires some intelligence to drive[&:]

HP ratings on the LS1 were/are marketing BS. The SS makes no more power than a Z/28, the engines are exactly the same, some will argue that the ram air hood makes some power, but timeslips and dynos have proven this not to be true. 01/02 LS1's will put down 300+ rwhp on average. On the subject of auto vs M6, a stalled auto will flat out butt rape an M6 car. BTW there is a sticky in the Street/Strip section about LS1's.

He asked about the horsepower, I simply answered, and yes, with the "advertised" number. Goes to my point though, if marketing selected it they did a **** poor job since the (generally) the engine (in EITHER body. and we shouldn't forget the ws6 sisters as well in that case) performs "better than advertised".
To the starter, there were diff options within the SS depending on year as well, so even my answer wasn't that comprehensive. LS1tech (as mentioned already) along with many similar sites, you can even check out ones on the WS6, same engine, different wrapper, will have all sorts of people breaking down the years, options, dyno sheets, etc.
P.S.- I believe the SS/WS6 was heavier than the Z, a factor for the track nuts....

I have to disagree. I had a 98 Z28 and a 99 SS and the SS felt alot faster but was only 1/10th faster on the 1/8 mile

So your going with seat of the pants feel and what it did on one day at the track. 1/10th of a second can be attributed to weather, launch, better shifting, a tail wind....Like I said if anyone here doubts my info, go to LS1tech and have a look around. If thats not enough then I don't know what to say. BTW people, I work on these engines everyday (we put many LS1's into different cars at my work) so I might just have a slight clue. Click the link in my sig if you want to see what I/we do.
