They dynamics of the GT's make it start to stumble after 120. It doesn't produce enough power to continue to acclerate at a good rate and over come the drag the car is creating at those speeds. Easy fix is get more power.

I recall a certain prankster Mustang GT-r or something talking about stuff like this and we took him to school. But his was the other way around.

My best friend has a '99 M3, I have driven it many times. It's quick, very quick, but I have no problem beating her off the line. The M3 is limited to 114 mph and we have never raced over 80, but I have no problem beating her to that speed.

You know what, you're probably right about the aerodynamics thing. I didn't even think about that one. I don't think this guy was limited, because he was still excelerating after 120, just much much slower. When does 4th run dry I wonder? Maybe that was it too.

I had my car doing 140 in forth gear and switched into fifth doing 145 up hill and couldnt gt anymore out of it. I probably would have made 150 or 155 going down hill, but whats the point? Thats probably the last time my ride will see that kind of speed in an uncontrolled state. (oohh, by the way, it never shut off due to speed either)

Yeah GT's can hit those speeds...but it will take a long, long, long, time to get there...lol. There really heavy and poorly designed for topend speeds.

HA HA... come to think of it I was right beside (or a little ahead) of an Infiniti G35. Lets see, 20 hp more, higher compression (10.1 to my 9.4) his DOHC to my SOHC, and his 6 speed to my 5.

His disadvantage... about 200 lbs.

Yeah, it took me a real long time. LOL at you!

LOL i dunno what some of you are talking about M3 of any sort can easily run over 150 mph. Now in the staes im sure they have rev limiters but speaking from experince most BMW are build for speeds well over 130 mph. Heck even the 318s can run 130. I think if you ran him from a dig you rpobally could smoke him with out any problems. If its a M5 i think a GT will loose.I have owned 5 BMWs while i was in Europe and they really love the fast lane. But i love my mustang more then any of those Bmws and i know i can always make mine faster so there isnt any problem.Run him from a dig and see what happens. Can you say German sausage...?[8D]

Okay, this ones tough to do w/ words and still keep it short, but I'll try. ... When the piston is all the way down, and the valves are closed that would be the big number. .... (that's not very clear....) .... (I'll use my car as an example) I run 10:1 compression ratio. So when my piston is all the way down in the cylindar, I have 10 times the amount of space open in the cylindar than I do when the piston is at the top of it's stroke, and the spark hits. A higher compression ratio will not give you more power per say, but will give you a much crisper responce out of your car. I don't know if this gets it across or not, but let me know, and I'll try again.
