Default What to do with a 98 Convert. GT ? First mod. . . etc.

Ok well let me jus break everything down for you . . . i came across a 98 Mustang GT, over all great shape and from wat it looks like it was toyed with. It has some kind of all around kit (cant really say it looks ricerish) along with that everything else is a mystery. Engine is pretty clean no sign of major mods and I have a feeling the exhaust was changed but i dont kno untill i c it on a lift. Interior is in well kept condition although i stumbled apon little switches behind the shift **** ( its auto by the way) and to be honest i have no clue weather the older model came with that or it was put in by the previous owner. In total there are around 6 or 5 of them. Well i was jus wondering if i would buy it what mod would you recommend i do first? And what are the little switches all about ? and if anyone knows some very good sites in regards to older body mustangs?

Thank you,
Denis

Glad to hear about your purchase! If you have the money($1400..heads & manifold kit) the stock heads should be replaced with some newer PI heads. IF not, you should get a cold air intake and exhaust (cat-back and mid-pipe) if it hasn't already been done. As far as the switches you found, I don't know what that is. Summit racing is always a good place for parts.

i have an 01 gt automatic vertible, and i would suggest a shift kit, and stall converter, unless you dont mind getting beat by a 5 sp. as for me, its eating me up!!!! my good buddy has a 5 sp, but i dont mind him handing me my ace, but i do mind the others [:@]
but, when its said and done, i still love my car, and i think you will like yours too.

Congrats on the new car.[sm=smiley20.gif] I agree, I would do the head swap followed by some good old 4:10's (gears) if you have an auto. Then work on the exaust, starting with a mac pro-chamber/catback system. With those mods you will gain a second in the quarter.

do the gear 4.10's (or 4.30's if you are going to do the pi head swap)get exhaust (mid-pipe,cat back) don't worry about the cai just get a k&n and remove the air silencer those are good first mods oh yeah get full length sub frame connectors to make sure they are the weld in type very good mod for your vert
