Hi guys, need some help on a thermostat change, my dad asked me to change the thermostat on our 02 gt because we are going to go to the track in extreme heat this friday nite and he is working out of town till then. I said no prob, I changed a few t-stats but this one needs to have the alternater retaining bolts loosened or removed to get at the t-stat location. Can I move the alternater and put it back on at the same relative tension? I know he has steeda underdrive pullies on. When I get the stat out is it a straight replacement, is there a gasket or anything to worry about, thanks for any input I am 17 and want to get this done.

the alternator will go back on, then you will have to get a breaker bar or something big to push the belt tensioner so you can slip the belt back on the alternator.
