Default Cobra's

Just wondering what the difference is between the 03-04 Cobra, 01-02 Cobra, 99-00 Cobra, and 96-98 Cobra. I know that the 03 Cobra's are supercharged but I'm wondering if what the other differences are if there are any?

The heads are the biggest difference. In 96-98 the Cobra heads had alot of flow but low velocity. High revvers prefer the 96-98 heads if they plan on revving to 8-9k rpm. I can't remember the differences between the 99-04 heads other than the heads flow better at lower rpms compared to the 96-98's making them much more desireable for most performance 4v's. Im sure theirs intake manifold differences as well, but I doubt theirs anything else. I know the '03 - '04 Cobra engines have forged rods, their aftermaket made by I think Manly but Im not positive - whereas the rest, including the GT's, use cast rods. The blocks are aluminum but the '03 & '04 I think went back to cast iron. Thanks all I can think of.

as far as I know the 4.6 in the 99 and 01 cobras are the same, the 00 Cobra uses the 5.4 Triton V8, there was no 02 cobra (?) and the 03+ Cobra uses all the good forged **** with an iron block.

Basically what I'm asking is, if I bought a 98 Cobra would it be just like an 03 cobra if I supercharged it or does all the forged internals make a big hp difference or just reliability difference? The 03 Cobra's are known to boost high is that just because of the 4V or is it because of something else the 03 cobra has?

Forged internals don't add HP, they can withstand more stress and boost than regular cast material.

Thats what I thought. So basically if I took a 98 Cobra and put the same supercharger on it that the 03 cobra have I would be running pretty close to the 03 cobras?

With the same amount of boost as a stock '03 Cobra you will likely be making more power than the '03, because you have a higher compression ratio in your '98 and your cast hyper pistons run tighter wall clearances. But... and a big but - the lower compression and forged pistons give the '03 Cobra the ability to run ALOT more boost and put out alot more hp (pontentially) than you could ever dream of.

they say that a 96 cobra would put out 500hp with a supercharger on a stock engine..twin turbo cobra would be right at 600hp.But needless to say..the 03 cobras are pretty bad.cause as you all know they test those cobras for hours at wide open throttle and still pass all emmissions and drive by noise so yeah the are pretty impresive
