When i bought my 2000 gt, the previous owners (2)had done some mods to it. My car seems to be extremely fast off the line compared to other Gt's. I've easily kept up with 2001 cobras. How can i tell what gears i have in the rearend? Im thinking that i might have 3.73's.

Thanks

the stockers are 2.73's if im not mistaken. but if they didnt tell you then it's not gonna be able to tell off that. they might have put in some good low end power adders, but if they didnt tell u what gears it's hard to know. 3.73's are a popular choice though...but it sucks that u dont know for sure cause if theyre not 3.73's then u could be having more power and not even know it!

Yeah, it does kind of suck. I was thinking about puting 3.73's in before i even thought that they might alreadybe. Now i dont know what to do. It's gonna be a big waste of money if i already have them.

Jack up your car and put it on stands. Leave it in neutral, nopark brake. Do this on level ground, okay? Mark one tire on the inner sidewall with chalk or something similar. turn the driveshaft and count how many times the driveshaft turns per one revolution of the tire. If it is a bit less than 4, its 3.73. If its 3 and a half then 3.55. If is is just under two turns of the driveshaft, you have 2.73. If its over 4 then you had better keep the overdrive. Its a really easy way to tell. Just make sure both rear tires are turning the same direction.

If theyre stock, theyre not 2.73:1; theyre 3.08:1. If the cars not good enough the way it is...get 4.10s....cant go wrong with them...just a bit more gear then 3.73s

if you're strong enough u can do it on the ground in neutral i bet, but that would take one of those guys in the strongmen competitions on tv probably.
