Go to ebay .. get the 2v forged internals kit .. ( crank, h beam rods, etc .. ) for about 1300 dollars .. then pay a shop about 700 to install the kit .. and you'll be good to go for up to 800-900 hp ..

But as far as stock .. you really don't want to push anything over 400 rwhp .. you'll be flirting with a time bomb after that ..
Absolulty no chance an "ebay" kit with rods/crank/pistons will take anything close to 800 horsepower.

There is a fairly big difference between just buying a rotating assembly vs an entire shortblock.

some ppl say the blocks themselves can take up to 1k hp, but the rotating assembly needs to be replaced for anything above 450, i'de say it's worth it, you can get a good rotating assembly(crank, rods, pistons) for around 1500-2k, and get it installed for for probably another 1k-1500, im not sure how much installation is, but it would be my guess that its 800+. and it's still cheaper to replace the internals than to go get a cobra motor.
the only modular engine that could take that power would be the teksid engine in 96-98 cobras or the GT 5.4L...other than the after market SHM block...the iron block itself is good to about 600 or so

there are quite a few people running over 400 with a stock bottom, me included, and some running well over 400. I dont have my engine screaming at 7K full boost, i think i have hit the rev limiter maybe 2-3 times. Unless you are dragging it, i think you can do alot more than just 400. I am going to put my smaller pulley on and hopefully do the snow kit. That should get 450 or over. I really dont want to rev it to 7K, i just want more power a little sooner, so the pulley and snow should help. Using all 450whp on rare occassions is probably safer than 400 really often and holding it there for a while. jmo, which admittedly is based on nothing I think we can get alot more from the stock bottom than is thrown around, just cant beat the car mercilessly, it isnt a race car.

I would think there would be people replying to these threads saying "no, dont go over 400, i blew my engine doing this!" I really havent seen those people, there are some, but havent seen one in quite awhile. and for those who have destroyed their engine, was it just breaking a piston or rod, or was it burning a hole in one from a bad tune. Bad tune dont count. How many of these people who are saying only 400rw have ever blown their engine b/c of a mech failure?

If you keep it to a reasonable RPM (6200 max~) you can get away with about 450 max. I wouldn't go over that without having the money for another shortblock in hand.

I stretched a piston in my stock motor. Had all the mods in sig on it. Piston actually hit the plug and bent the valve. Motor was shot. Got the forged motor now and no problems. I was pushin 400hp with the stock motor so dont tell him its good to 450 cause it aint

ps And it was dyno tuned by a shop that runs outlaw and drag radial cars so the tune was good
