ATTENTION 03 COBRA OWNERS-MORE HP

just saw the boys on Horsepower TV do some mods on a bone stock 2003 Cobra. They dynoed it and got 364 rear wheel HP for a baseline. Then they reprogrammed the ECU with a Hypertech Power Programmer and got 407 rwhp, at 43 HP increase or 11.8% more HP with just the programmer changes. Next they changed the stock blower pulley to a 3" diameter pulley and reprogrammed it once more. This gave them 415 rwhp and finally they installed a 2.8" pulley and reprogrammed it once more and got 427 rwhp out of it. That's an increase of 63 HP overall or a 17.3% increase. Pretty impressive considering they hardly even got their hands dirty!

Yea i tried to sale the Kids last week to get my Cobra but the wife got mad, so i had to go get them back.Cobra are one of the best cars for modding even if it has a SC. Did they say how much it cost to program the chips?

Just givin ya a hard time Roundman. This has been known for quite some time though. '03 Cobra guys have been doing this for a long time.

Poor 98,,, must be something about them LS1 guys jealous of a car that can stomp Vipers and Vettes Porshes etc for $600 in upgrades?

Damn...what the hell did I say?

I said they're making tons of power doing little things...this has been known for a while. Well, at least I have known.

PMS'ing again I see. LOL I saw that episode also. I thought that car was going to rip itself off the dyno the way it jumped while he was in it. Even he looked a little scared but played it off ok. lol

If I saw it right, they just used the power programmer to go back and change the program, they didn't change any chips at all. Evidently the newer ones let you upgrade the program as you make mods but I'm sure it runs out after some point in mods.
