If you HAVE to get a catted pipe, you're not going to find much under $300. I seem to recall seeing the first tier Bassani catted X on eBay for around $350 shipped; I'd check there first.

Of course, if you've got a good set of tools, you can always just jack up the car, pop off your aftermarket pipe, and stick in the stocker when you go to emissions. Get your tags, drive home, and slap the O/R pipe back on. I plan on doing just that if Ohio ever reinstates E-Check (which it won't).

trust me, you dont just "pop off" the midpipe. if you're by yourself, its a P.I.T.A. , especially the passenger side manifold bolt.

just get a catted midpipe. the power difference is negligable and you'd only notice it as a slight difference in numbers on a dyno

plus it puts out cleaner gasses

Check the inventory at completeexhaust.com. IF you find something you're interested in, CALL them and tell them you are a member of this forum. They give a nice discount. I got the MagnaFlow SS catted X for $350. With the cat back, I paid $765 shipped.

Would I be able to do it with an extra set of hands and jack stands??? Is it just undoing some bolts and bolting the new one back on??

I did my exhaust, cat back and X pipe with hand tools in about 3.5 hours - alone. That includes cutting out the stock cat back, which sucked butt. The mid pipe was very easy. I hit the mainfold to mid pipe bolts with WD-40 30 minutes before I tried them. Came right off first try. I highly recommend 1/2" drive sockets and breaker bar. 3/8 just isn't big enough.

See, size does matter after all.

Will the pipe fit right? I have a 2.5" MAC catback (older style, no black coating), all I do is WD-40 those bolts from my catback and to the headers and replace?

Pretty much. The bolts on the manifold might be a bitch to get off, but once they're broke free, it's really simple. Just remember to remove the O2 sensors BEFORE everything else. If you have the O/R version, you'll need a tuner to kill the rear O2s or mil eliminators. If it's catted, you may need the O2 extentions (I don't know about the MAC, but I needed mine).
