So I had the local exhaust shop put on my o/r H pipe and I didn’t go get the MIL eliminators so they didn’t put them on but for some reason the check engine light never came on. Is this common thing to happen with some of the cars or am I just lucky?

It will probably come on later. My car, even with the MILs, would pop the CEL on every once in awhile until I had the rear 02 sensors turned off via tune.

well it has been almost a month that I got them put on!

I just ordered mine. It's cheap insurance I guess. You don't want to be driving around with the CEL on and just saying, "Oh it's my H pipe that's doing that" when it could be something much worse.

I'll bet you that it'll come on eventually. I didn't have MIL's when I got my o/r H pipe, and it took 2-3 weeks before my cel came on.

+1 ... give it time.. could be a few days or weeks or months but eventually one day you will be riding and bing.. there goes your cel.. just keep it in the back of your mind so that when it does come on you know what it is.

It will come on. Did you buy the car new in 97? It's possible it's already had a mid-pipe with MIL's in place...
