got about 1400 to spend, maybe up to 1800 next month. what should my first mods be? what would make the best difference for the money? and what does the "modular" mean for our engines? im new to ford, used to be a GM guy but couldnt pass up this deal on my new stang. Its a 1998 GT bone stock automatic. I was thiknkin x pipe, side exhaust, intake, pulleys, ignition and headers and a throttle body as my first necassary mods but what do u guys think i should do with my money and sorry for the question. probly heard this 90 million times. im new to this board too so u can show me a link to a similiar thread if its already been asked recently.

get headers first... ya gotta get her breathin good before you do major mods... get a nice MAF unless ur gonna s/c her.. whatd u pay for the car? bassani makes good xpipes... the side exhaust will be more expensive than back exhaust, not to mention more complicated (a side exhuast looks s**tty without the right side skirt). dont forget to get a nice suspension too... im sure otheres will tell u what to get too</P>

PI head swap is what I would do. Cost would be about $1300 or so and you would still have a few dollars to play around with. Gears would also help. AOD, I would go 4.10's. Go over to Stangnet.com or Corral.net and do a search about the head swap.

Rear end is the way to go. Being an auto though 4.10s might be too much if yer deciding to drive around alot, unless you dont like gas then get the 4.10s. Id say 3.73s. I have a 5 speed with 4.10s and the first 4 gears are always highly wound then shifting to 5th puts me at a nice cruisable rpm. 80 mph is about 2600 rpm in 5th.</P>

Next, get the underdrive pullies. Thats like 7hp just waiting to be used. I did however notice that lights were a bit dimmer and the windows rolled up a bit slower. Its worth it though and you feel an improvement in the seat of yer pants.</P>

After that I would work on the exhaust. A Bassani X pipe will definately help yer ride breath ALOT better. Through a cat-back of yer choice because everyone has their own preference. I like the steeda ones personally. Not too loud, but a great tone and a perfect fit. 3.5 inch tips are nice to see too </P>

If you have any cash after that......try a stage 2 shift kit if yer planning on daily driving it. Nice quick semi-hard shifts that will have you barking yer tires through third. If ya look hard enough you can find one for around 40-50 bucks.</P>

If yer serious about racing, get a stage 1 shift kit and feel yer head hit the head rest. It can be anoying sumtimes though so be forwarned. </P>

GL with yer upgrades and dont listen to that rustangh8ter. Hes gay and has nothing better to do then to flame websites. Probably some trailer trash (not even his place, still living with his mom) sitting behind a 13 inch monitor with his pentium 1, 75Mhz computer wishing he owned a mustang 2 :P</P>

The guy didnt ask "whatdo you thinkof a 98GT" he asked for help on what he should do to a car that he already owns. And IMO, a good car. Why do you feel obligated to rag on him for such a simple question. If you want to make snide comments like that, take it to www.Imafu%kstick.com, Im sure there are lotspeople there that share your opinions. I wasn't going to write this but after looking at some of your other posts, I felt compelled. I will give you some advice though, PUNCTUATION.Periods are the funny little dots that come at the end of sentences. &lt;--- See, like that one.Next week we will cover the use of commas. They are like periods but indicate pauses instead ofthe end of a thought. You have your opinions of what a good car is and other people have theirs. You want to talk sh**, start yourown fu**ingthread and stop trashing other peoples. </P>

EDIT: Mods, I appologize for the outburst but something needed to be said. </P><edited><editID>wei462</editID><editDate>37822.3423148148</editDate></edited>
