Traction Control is coming on
hey guys i have a question. i recently went from a 245/40/18 to a 255/40/18 up front. rears are 275/35/18. now i have noticed that when im on the highwy, the traction control will come on when i hit the go pedal. i dont have that many mods, so i know i aint spinning the wheels. could the slight difference in tire size be causing the computer to think im slightly spinning? or could i have a failing sensor in one of the wheels? it doesnt do it all the time, and hasnt done it when im on the city streets. its only happened about 2-3 times when im getting on the highway. then i have to turn off the traction control

RE: Traction Control is coming on
i am running yokohama avs db s2's inthe rear and BFG kdw in front now. i never had this problem before untili switched tire sizes. according to the tire calculator site, it says the front is 1% slower than the rear. thats why im thinking maybe the computer thinks i am spinning. i know imnot. when it does it is getting onthe highway in 3rd or 4th gear. theres no way im going to spin on a stock engine on dry pavement already doing about 40 mph or more when im already on the highway

Traction control uses the ABS brake sensors in the REAR wheels to sense when one wheel is spinning faster than the other and then it triggers the engine management system which reduces timing, fuel etc.
AFAIK, the front wheels don't come into the picture. for TCS operation so having different sizes on the front and back
should not matter as long as both tires on the back axel are the same size[8D]
Most likely something was knocked loose when they replaced your tires.
Check the ABS sensors to see if they are tight and if the cables are routed properly and not kinked or damaged.
Do you get any codes?

I would def check the ABS sensor in the back. Until then I would definalty keep your TC off. That would be kinda scary getting on the hwy and having that kick on.

Keep it off until you figure out what the problem is.
