I have been told this is my throw out bearing. It does this when I put it in neutral and 5th gear when the transmission is cold, mainlyon cold mornings and after it has sat for a while. It is quiet for a few seconds and then starts into thisnoise, kind of pulsing.The sound goes completely away after thetranny gets warmed up. Ideas on what this could be? I'm planning on a spec stage 1 clutch anyway, so hopefully this is only related to my clutch or TOB.

Have you check the fluid level of your transmission fluid? I would drain it and replace it with new fluid and then see how it sounds. Get some Royal Purple Synchromax

I actually just replaced it with synchromax last weekend, so the fluids are brand new and where they should be level wise. It did this sound before the fluid change too.

That sounds horrible! I have no clue as to where to start, but maybe your synchros?

Yes and the odd thing is, it is completely drivable. It has no problems shifting, and always goes into gear. After it warms up it drives like a dream.

usually the throw out bearing is a little higher pitched, not sure on that sound but doesn't sound good[sm=signs003.gif]

Sounds like your throw out bearing, after i replaced my clutch mine started making that noise, just not near as loud, and I contacted spec and they said that it should make some noise. So if it goes out in my car its their asses.

Honestly, it sounds like a throw-out bearing to me, spun and rattling in the fork.

Good, that makes me feel better. I was afraid I had some massive problem with the internals that was going to have a feast on my wallet.

Should I get this fixed pretty soon, or will it be okay for a few months?

that sounds bad, id get it done and over with. the longer you wait, the more chace it has to get worse and possibly mess something else up
