Default 4.6 vs.5.0

ok guys, overall would you most of you stick to the 4.6 or, if you had the chance, go to a 5.0, 88-92 gt? i know 99 up gt's have more horses than previous years, so i mean the 4.6 stang engine in general. take in consideration aftermarket parts cost, how easy it is to work on, reliability, etc. here we go....

Personally I like the newer body style better, but thats just me.The 5.0 engines respond well to upgrades and there are a lot of parts available. As far as cost ,things like heads and cams are cheaper for the 5.0 because of the machining processes involved for the 4.6.Body parts are about the same one on one. About the only reason to choose one over the other would be the newer car would be ,well, just newer.

the overhead cam(s) in the 2 valve 4.6 is good and lets it rev higher. I like it better myself.

4.6
aren't the 99+'s lighter than the fox bodies? i've heard the fox's are the lightest body style mustang produced.

but 4.6 are better by far.

Hard choice seeing as how we have one of each in our family. I have to agree with 98, if you want to go really fast for really cheap then go 5.0.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy a 5.0. I like the 4.6, but the 5.0 is a lot cheaper to mod, and there are a ton of parts for it. Plus, nothing beats the look of a fox body notchback.

4.6 for life! [sm=smiley14.gif] Actually it would be cool to own a 5.0 too. They both respond well to mods. If I had to do it over again, I would get a 98 Cobra instead of the GT.

Go 5.0's they have more low end torque, more cube, MORE POWER! and they are also the lightest, best looking mustang IMO.
