Default bore/stroke question.

first, whats the stock bore and stroke of a 99+ 4.6?

next, boring it over, how far can you go over? .020, .030?

Do you think by boring and stroking a 4.6 you could between 5.2-5.7 liters out of it?

ok would I need to resleeve it then? I can't remember if the 99+ GT motors are aluminum with iron sleeves or all iron blocks?

You might cause i don't know how thick the cylinder sidewall are on the 4.6,and i think that most 4.6 have the iron blocks.

Ok I just acquired a pretty nifty little tool here and I have more questions.

the stock GT is 9.4:1 CR. I know that.

~ how big are the intake and exhaust valves? In inches or CMs
~ what kind of manifolds do the GTs use? (single plane, dual plane, tunnel ram, individual runner, etc)
~ what kind of flow does the stock IM put down in CFMs? My guess is either 300 or 400 CFMs, but I dunno.
~ what kind of lifters do they use? hydro flat tappet, solid flat tappet or roller solid/hydro lifters?
~ what kind of lift and duration does the cam produce on the stock valves?

Tryin to calculate what kind of power I could be making with just an overbore and stroker kit on a 4.6

Any help is appreciated.

I've heard that .020 is the highest a 4.6 block should be overbored reliably, but I guess .040 over is possible. Only time will tell how reliable it is. The GT blocks are all iron I believe, and the Cobra blocks, pre-'03, are aluminum.

Interesting about the intake, I always thought they were individual runners...

The largest displacement I've seen from a 4.6 is 302 cubes with a stroker crank and I believe a .020 overbore. If you wanted more cubes, you'd probably have to have a custom crank made which gets exremely expensive, or possibly have the crank throws offset-ground and get some custom rods and pistons for a longer stroke...if you want that many cubes, it would be a lot cheaper to use a stroked 302 or a 351, but everybody has their own reasons.

yea what he said, 5.1 cubes is available now though. And .020 is the most thats recommended. You can do a big bore kit with the aluminum blocks, those arent found in GT's your gonna have to get em from the older Cobra's or a Lincoln.
