Damn Car Alarm!!!!
I just bought a Viper 791XVR car alarm that got installed a week ago and I already have to take the car up to get the damned think looked at. When I arm the alarm it arms and everything is fine. About 10-15 minutes later, it starts chirping like something is tripping the proximity sensor, but there is nothing near the car. It will continue to chirp every 5 minutes or so until I finally disarm the alarm completely or shut the chiping off, which I found out I could do earlier today.
And to make things worse, I can't even get it in until Tuesday morning. Not very happy right now. $760 for this alarm and it's already giving me problems.

maybe there was a problem in the installation? Make them fix it for free, unless its a faulty alarm.

Why'd you get an alarm? The PATS makes it just about impossible to steal, Mustang theftshave declinedby 77% since PATS became standard equipment. Also, having owned convertibles for the past 7 years (3 Miatas), I would never lock one--all that means is that the contents of the car will be stolenAND you'll need to get a new top...

My last Jeep had a top end Clifford alarm system with dual zone proximity. One "false alarm" I found it would sometimes do is.. if the car is parked outside on a very hot sunny day & I leave a window down a crack for airflow, the hot air flowing out the window could set off the proximity sensor!

That's interesting. At first my mother thought that it was the shadows coming off the trees in the front yard. And then a friend of mine at work thought it was a moth that was inside the car flying around. Neither were right apparently. Oh well. At least I can still arm the alarm without engaging the chirping.
