I have a 2003 GT with the mods listed in my sig. I am interested in getting a set of cams, and wanted some advice as to which ones I should get. I read the cams thread that was stickied but I'm still not sure what to get. Which brand? Stage I or II? Do stage II's provide power at too high of an rpm range that would make themundesirable for a street car? I will be keeping the stock bottom end, by the way.
my buddy just got vtstage 1 cams in his 02 gt, he says it pulls alot harder up top now. also when he starts it up you can tell he has cam work, it sounds sick!
are there any stage I cams out there that have a special grind to them to work better with forced induction? I know that there are N/A stage II's and F/I Stage II's.....but never heard of Stage I's being specific.....
I would go with Stage II cams with a custom grind to drop the RPM range down just a bit. VT or Crowler you can't go wrong. With Stage II you will need valve springs though.
600 bucks for VT cams on thier website. I paid 600.00 for my stage 1's with no valvesprings. I would assume they charge extra for custom grinds aswell.
What about a tune afterwards? I have an Xcal2...Do I need to go out and get one of those damned 400 dollar custom dyno tunes afterwards? That would...how do you say....suck.
