Default ford 9 inch rear?

i got a 04 gt and as you all prob know it has an 8.8 inch rear. i was wondering if its worth to upgrade to a 9 inch if im pushin out some serious hps? also does 1900 sound crazy for the whole assembly; axles, gears, posi, and brakes

How much power do you plan on making? What is this car going to be for you? Weekend cruiser, track mule or DD? Axles are good idea to upgrade. The differential all depends on what your plans are for the car.

The 8.8 can handle a good amount of power but of course the ford 9" is one of the best. We'll need more info first. But more than likely the 8.8 with new axles and diff. will work.

well right now i have a little over 400 hps and im planning to go big. what i am doing is starting from the rear and gonna work my way forward. i want to get a good rear, drive shaft then tranny then to the engine. this is more like a weekend car so its def not my every day driver. but i dont want to spend 700 on axles and diff, then find out a year down the road that i should have went with the 9". ya know, so just wanna do it once. its bad enough that i put 3.73's in there that are prob gonna be useless.
