Default upgrade plans.. good? bad?

hey im new to the site been reading the forums for a long time and got around to joining! i just got a 01 gt 5 speed with 63k miles, my dad gave me a 84 gt in highschool that we built up and have been a mustang nut ever since. im looking forward to makeing alot of changes down the road to the car and have done alot of research on some mods, i know alot of you here have some pretty deep history with this stuff so please feed me your input. in the next month i plan on doing these upgrades so here they are.

*4.10 gears
*aluminum flywheel and driveshaft
*new clutch, king cobra most likely
*long tube headers
*off road x pipe
*mufflers ... will be a bit loud with the strait pipes i got and no cats lol
*electric water pump

any advice you can lend me would be great! if anyone here knows what kind of realistic gains i will get from these upgrades or thinks im going in the wrong direction please let me know.. thanks!!

I am not a big fan of the electric water pumps on street cars. Not to many people are doing it, and it can fail at any moment with no warnings that it has failed. There are ways around this (like a trouble light) but it just isn't something alot of people take a chace on .

So far as the clutch, I would recommend something stronger than the king cobra like the spec stage 2 etc, unless you will pretty much be done modding the car after these mods.

Otherwise your list looks great. Gears/exhaust should be everyones first mod.

aluminum drive shaft and flywheel are good mods but you wont really feel much at all with a pretty much stock stang, also the 4.1's are nice but on a manual your gonna go through gears pretty quick. An electric water pump is not recommended on a dd due to reliability issues as was stated above.

Also, if your gonna be doing your gears, look into other mods that can be done at the same time, this will help ya out with install costs. Rear brake upgrades, 31 spline axles, and a girdle, a 31 spline lsd. Those would be things you can look into, the last 3 arent really needed unless your planning on going FI.
