Default mach 1 procharger

I have a 2004 mach 1 and i currently have the engine pulled, I plan on putting a procharger on it in the near future, and was wondering what all should I upgrade for the supercharger, since I have the engine pulled already? What kind of power is the stockMach 1 block rated for?Brands? Type? Thanks

It all depends on how much power you want to make.

You can make about 430-440 WHP safely on your stock shortblock with a good/great tune (more if you want to push your luck).

Otherwise, you can replace the rods and pistons (as the mach 1 should already have the cobra forged crank IF its a 5 speed) or you can go with an entire forged shortblock for maximum potential.

Just because you have the shortblock doens't mean you can make the maximum it is rated at though. You will have to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump over and above what come with the procharger kit.

I do have the 5 speed, so the crank should be fine? It seems like most mach 1's that i've read about that have the procharger on it are right around 450-470 rwhp. If I upgraded the pistons and rods to forged, would that be a reliable enough setup? Overall I'd say I'd like more power, bud i would rather have something be somewhat reliable than something that is ***** to the wall

I had a procharger P1SC and wish I didn't pick procharger. The belt kept slipping or breaking and the idle pulley kept breaking on me. Itseemed like my friends who had either kenny bell or vortec were making much more power than me. I would never pick procharger again.

I had it put in. I could never had put it in myself. You need to know what you are doing to put in a supercharger. I believe it comes with a 3 year warranty. Parts and labor cost me $5800. I am sure there are a lot of people who love procharger but my experience is that it isn't the one I would pick if I had to do it all over again.

I did my vortech install in the garage. The vortech install should be tougher because you have to puncture the oil pan, and honestly it was a breeze.

So far as the power output, PSI for PSI you should make just as much with a procharger as a vortech or KB (within reason). If your not making the same power, something is wrong.

So far as the belt slip etc, the PS1C is not the greatest setup in the world for higher than about 10-12 PSI. If your going to bother to rebuild the engine (shortblock) and put in forged componets you should go with a D seires.

i know a guy that put a vortech on his mach....i belive he made 460 give or take a few...he was fine, never had any problems. i have a vortech, when i first got it on, i had belt slippage, but i put a new belt on and havent had one problem. the main thing you should do when adding the blower is a new clutch and gears. they absolutely make a world of difference on a blown car. i had 3:90s before the blower, i drove my buddies with 3:27s and it lagged a little. and the clutch just makes a world of difference. my advice to you is to get the blower, tune it at 430-440rwhp, and then add the forged rods and pistons, and throw on a smaller pulley. that should fulfill your power needs.

i would, high compression isnt good business with a blower. what does the mach run 11:5:1 or is it 10:1...i cant remember but you should lower it down to8:1 or so
