For Bolt ons.
*C&L Maf Kit
*Accufab Throttle
*Intake Cap Spacer (Also raises shaker up for a meaner look)
*Under drive pulleys
*SFI lightweight flywheel
*EGR restricter
*LT headers (Ceramic coated) for states without smog
*Bassani LT X-pipe
*LM1's exhaust
*SCT Xcal2 tuner or livewire SCT tuner
*Gears
That will make your car rip and roar, a Mach1 with that setup would be very respectable. In case you dont know yet the stock cams are .392"/.392"
In depth Modifications
*Remove intake, port excess casting flash away, smooth out the top runner section, cut the lower part off(Have a shop do this) and port the bells out, weld it back up.
*Send the heads off to be ported, you could also have a 1mm oversize in intake and exhaust valves bring them from 30mm to 31mm on the exhaust and 37mm to 38mm on the intake.
*FR500 cams .472"/.472" lift
*.032" head gaskets to raise compression to 11.5:1 CR (About) stock is 10.68:1 CR
Thats about as in depth as you want to go for now, that makes for a great setup.
With this combination and 4.56 gears you will be in the high 10 second and low 11 second brackets. There is a MM&FF article for the baddest NA shootout and the Mach1's there with this setup were into the high 10's and low 11's. They all had manual transmissions too for that ET class.
Enjoy the hell out of your car! Congrats!

DO NOT GET UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS!!!!!
Everyone on the Mach 1 Registry forbids them...trust them on this
For bolt-ons, I would go with:
1) Full Exhaust (Catback, Midpipe, Headers)--if not all 3, at least an O/R Midpipe...if all three, get good headers (SLP, Hooker, Kooks)
2) Gears--get 4.10s. Stock is 3.55 so 3.73 is worthless. Maybe 3.90s if you worry about gas mileage (best bang for the buck)
3) Intake--JLT Ram Air and PHP Spacer (cheap mods which do give decent gains)
4) Suspension--Control Arms for traction, maybe springs if you are interested in cornering but not straight line drag
5) Sticky Tires, I'd go with Nitto 555R Drag Radials (last about 15K and hook up well on street, but not recommended for wet weather driving)
And if you get gears/headers you're going to need a tune

+1 on the UDP's. UDP's have caused several problems with mach 1's such as:
-"Underdrive pullies cause cancer, carry AIDS, kill babies and discussing them can lead to engine failure.- Hillary Clinton in your bed if you use them."Seriously though, I haven't really heard many good things about them for MACH 1's. V6's and GT's are different.
Supposidly it causes damage with the oil pump.

You guys are great. I had this post bookmarked from the day I posted it so when it comes time to modify, I have some great info. Friend just told me his Mark VI supra has more horsepower than my Mach 1. He said exactly this:
"Your Mach is 300 - 325 at the crank."
"Maybe 250 - 275 at the wheels."
Is that true?

Octane,
Thanks. Is yours manual or automatic? I see you burned out in that pic there. Only time my tires spin is if i accidentally give it too much gas and let off the clutch in 1st sometimes! lol.

Yeah, mine unfortunately is an auto. My cobra was a manual, but when I came across a deal like what I got for this mach, I couldn't pass it up. I miss my manual, but autos have their own fun to it. Consistent on the 1/4 too.

Octane,
Ahh, I see. My v6 is an automatic. I drove it the other day, and after 2 months of driving the Mach, OH MAN forget it. I was mashing that gas and the response just WASN'T THERE! I can't part with 'er though (the v6). It was my first "real" car that I paid off all by myself, brand new from the dealer. But mmmm, after driving automatic all of my life, and then diving head first into manual, I'll never look at another automatic again.
