Default shift points

I have a auto 96 mustang gt. I was wonder if I raise my shift points all the way would it slow my car down from heat or does it cool it with higher pressure. its like a shift kit I also have 4:10 gears

What do you mean by all the way? Raising your WOT shift points will keep you in the powerband longer, and you can get a much better ride with it. Running higher rpms will always make a engine run hotter, but the extra power you get because you stay in the powerband makes up for it. The shift points and shifting from factory are crap on auto transmissions.

I have found the best shift points are dialed in on a dyno. My car just rips 1-3 gears afer a dyno tune, but if u choose to do it yourself try, 1-2 shift at 6100, 2-3 shift at 5800 and 3-4 shift at 5800.
