Engine temps on a HOT day
The last couple days have been scorchers here in so cal and consequently my engine temps edge a bit higher. Does anyone know the normal operating temps for the 4v engines? Ive got the stock thermostat in there atm. Thanks!

where in socal do you live? inland empire or something? I didn't think it was hot enough to mess with engine temps, I haven't noticed anything odd with my car, but I haven't driven in ****ty traffic going 5 mph for hours on end recently.

RE: Engine temps on a HOT day
get an xcal2 tuner or any other tuner and have it turn your fans on at a lower temp
that should help with the hot engine... as for the heat range, I have no idea..
It's been a hot couple of days in norcal as well

Ya thats normal.
The fan speeds are set for 200 and 210 if I remember correctly
The T-Stat should be a 195 degree.
Stock the car has a 15 minute timer to warm up to 160 degree's or it will throw a code.
My suggestions.
Buy a 180 degree T-Stat and get a tuner to have the hi-lo fan temp lowered to 190 and 200.
Your car will love you long time for this
You could opt for a 170 or 175 T-Stat and set the fans another 10 degree's lower but on a cold day you might throw that CEL.
Now being in So-Cal you wont experiance any kind of temps that will make that happen. Hell in sac it only breaks to 32 degree's maybe 30 times a year.
Go ahead and go lower if you like for the summer, you can set the fan temp any time you want so you could raise it back up for the winter.
Easy easy stuff to make your car run great for a long time.
