For some reason when i was driving somewherei stopped and put it in park. it started goin in reverse. so i called my brother and he fixed it. Well now im having problems to where its not shifting. its an 01 gt. have any answers to why its not shifing please let me know. i checked the fluid and it was fine.

Can you shift it manually? What did your brother do to "fix" it?

i put the car into park then all of a sudden it would go in reverse, well he came over and fix the bolt to the cable cuz it was missing, he fixed that, well now when i put it in drive it wont shif at all. itll act like its still in 1st gear when i should be in 3rd goin on 4. its an automatic.

yea shifting it in 1st gear is no problem and shifting it into 2nd gear is also no problem, its drive and overdrive is the problem.

Are you sure it's OD that's the problem and not 3rd gear? What does the car do while driving? Does it just rev up and not go anywhere? Or does it just go slow? Is the CEL on?

it just revs up and doesnt go anywhere... what does cel mean? by the way i even asked my roommate hes got a mustang too he didnt know..

ok new news on this. my brother pulled right next to me and he thinks it might be starting out in 2 gear. which in turnit might be in limp mode..any answers?
