I have loud knock like noise from my motor. So I pulled the motor, pulled the oil pan and nothing. Checked the bearing and everything was good. Then we noticed that the cam chain was loose and it was possible that the chain was hitting the motor causaing the noise. Has anybody heard of this happening?

ive seen loose chains, slack in the clain, make some pretty weird noises and fake people out before, it wouldnt suprise me

Its more of a tap than a knock.

not on a 4.6 but ive seen it happen before, its consistant tap kinda knock-ish, slack in the timing chain, yep

i mean obviously i cant garantee thats what it is cus im not there to hear/look at it, but from what you described ande thsound you say its makes, deff sounds like a slack in the chain
