Default oil breather good or bad

I lose some oil and I dont know were its going. I was wonder if it has something to do with the pcv . I dont know when to change it . I was thinking of just putting a breather on.

yes go with the breather i am about to..plus with the normal PCV oil is getting into your intake and **** gunking it up....letting it breathe saves your engine from build up as well.

Pull your pcv hose and if it is wet then put in a seperator. Unless you are FI then you wont really need to go to the extreme of putting on breathers. You should also do a compression check to make sure your not getting blow by and look under the car for wetness on the back of the engine because it could be a rear main seal leak which wont normaly drip on the ground.

But a breather doesn't rob performance or burn oil faster does it?

no...keeps oil in your engine instead of being sucked out by your PCV...your PCV is a vaccuum to keep combustion pressures and other pressures out of your engine so you dont blow seals...a breather does the same thing minus the vaccuum..just lets the pressure escape

A breather isn't really extreme though is it...

no, but if you are not forced induction, you probably have bad rings (blow-by) or a bad seal
