quick timing chain install refresher??

quick timing chain install refresher??
Hey to install the timing chains i mark the chains by folding in half and marking each opposite end link, then leave the crank in safe mode 12oclock , then i line up one of the marked links on the chain with the timing mark on the crank sprocket gear, then rotate the cam until i can line up the other marked chain link on the cam sprockets timing mark????? Basically i just want to double check i can time the engine in safe mode and not have the crank at TDC..[/align]

yea well i sure hoped i was right cuz thats how i did it and thats how it was staying lol... appreciate the reply yea i did the drives side first if you dont you hose yourself

I'm going to put my heads on tonight. To time the heads, I have to put the shortblock in safe mode, like said before. Where is safe mode? At TDC my crank key way is about 315 degrees. Is safe mode keeping the key way at 12:00? Someone help! Please!!!!!!
