Default 10 versus 26 spline on 2000 GT

I just purchased and had installed a Spec Stage 1 clutch from lperformance here:

http://www.lmperformance.com/3530/50.html

One of the choices on the page was a 10 (standard) spline or a 26 (upgraded) spline. I went with the 10. Did I screw myself and, if so, what do I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

No. lol. That option is for people with TKO(or other aftermarket trannys) that usually come with 26 spline input shafts. If you have the orig tranny, you are fine. 10 Spline input for you!

Yep, you can actually have your stock tranny upgraded to 26 spline but it's a bit expensive

AND stupider than a box of rocks. The T-45/3650 is gonna take a dump long before the stock input shaft. lol

And pointless, since something else other than the input shaft is going to break before the stock 10 spline anyway.

Stock transmissions ftl!

Thanks, I'm glad that's not an issue. I'm just trying to diagnose a problem now. When I first took it out for a spin after the install, the clutch didn't seem to disengage until the pedal was all the way out. I swung back to the house, pulled the clutch pedal up, and heard a pretty loud click or pop. I tried to start the car again and the car moves forward when I turned the ignition, like I didn't have my foot on the pedal at all.

Does this sound like just a clutch cable adjustment issue or something else?

Defenetely sounds like an adjustment problem. You didn't mention if you stayed with the factory clutch cable and quadrant but it sounds like you did. It's a good idea to upgrade to an after market clutch quadrant and either a adjustable clutch cable or a fire-wall adjuster or both. Here is a link to a bit of instruction on how to cheat the factory slack adjuster.

Default RE: Updated clutch problem

Okay, so the mechanic performedan adjustment to the cable and that is apparently resolved. NOW, he says the clutch is chattering pretty severely, a lot more than what should be normal. He says I should have gotten a stock clutch replacement rather than the Spec and a new flywheel (I resurfaced the existing one). He wants to drop the tranny for $500 plus parts to inspect the problem. He said it could be a bad flywheel or they took too much off on the resurfacing.

Keep in mind I've already paid a buddy $220 for the initial replacement. Any suggestions? This car needs to get back on the road badly (daily driver). Thanks!
