Does anyone (besides uber & seabee) read the "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" that accompanies the owners manual? I'm assuming the OP doesn't have this. I know that all of these personal recommendations are trying to be helpful, but knowing the Ford recommended intervals are the best starting point.
According to that, the transmission gets changed every 30,000 miles. It also states that the rear diff only needs to be changed if submerged in water.
OP, while I'm at it, Oil/filter: 5000 miles. Coolant: 30,000 miles. Fuel Filter: 30,000 miles.
Obviously, you're free to change these intervals if you wish, but these are the facts as stated by Ford.
