I'm looking to buy a new set of tires for my '04 gt. Problem is, i don't want to buy the tiny stock tires. i know it comes stock with the 245/45/17's, but what other tire size can i put on there to give me another inch at the road?

there are a bunch of people on here that run 275/40/17 nitto 555Rs in the rear... im gonna get them in a couple weeks.... but ive heard that D/Rs runa little smaller than regular tires and thats why the 275 nittos fit on out wheels

275s arent even supposed to go on an 8 inch wide tire... but MD and Jdan and a few others said they have it done, so im gonna do it because they have expereicned it and said its cool... u cant go bigger than that if u wanted to i dont think

Well, i'm fixing to have to buy a full set of 4, so if they fit, they're going all around for a nice look.

wouldn't the 275's be a smaller tire height? the 245/45 comes out to 11025, but 274/40 comes out to 11000

i dont know if u should do that... if ur gonna get D/Rs get them in the rear... and dont get 275 in the front... i think for the front it may be to wide because the front wheels are what turn and direct u ... i dont think u want to put an oversized tire on the wheels that control the car... if u dont need D/Rs... then just get 255/40/17 all around... thats what i have now and they are cool... im gonna replace the rears with 275/40/17 nittos because i got the 410s ... otherwise id keep 255/40/17 all around...

incase u didnt know... i think it goes like this

275----> the width of the tire

45-----> height of the sidewall

17---> wheel size...

i dont think u can really get more than 245 on 17s... thepoint is on 17s with sport tires... they all are gonna be fairly low profilelooking ... so if u want big looking tires... im not sure u can pull itoff... lets see what some other peopel have to say

yeah ur ride might svck if u get wide tire in the front. get the 555Rs in the back and even stockers in the front. that is if u need them. u only really need DRs if u have an s/c or gears. the tire hieght might be a little different one way or another but as long as its close yll be fine
