Some options became standard in 02 and some new ones availbale. I'm not 100% on these so if anybody knows different plese chime in.

Traction control became standard in 2002, The Mach 1000 was available for the first time, some CD players were able to play mp3's on CD's, and I think there was some change in name from deluxe to premium or vise versa.

The main one I would like somebody to confirm is, DID the spark plug thread change take place in 2002?

There is a debate on the years but there are mustang gt's with windsor and romeo blocks, I have heard that its in the vin but it is not confirmed.

I am in the process of trying to confirm this, I need to find out if I have an 8 or 6 bolt for my tranny swap^^.
Unless the motor has been replaces, an 03 GT should have a 6-bolt Romeo motor. Windsor produced truck engines. Romeo produced car engines. I believe the Romeo plant had limited productionduring 99-00 because of a fire so the 99-00 Mustang ended up with Windsor motors (maybe some early01s). Windsor motors have 8 bolt cranks. Romeo motors 6 bolt cranks. The Windsor motor is easily identified by 13/14 valve cover bolts compared to 11 for the Romeo.

There have been rumors of 6 bolt Windsor motors, but I've also read a report that said only the Windsor crank would fit the Windsor block. There is no difference in the performance of the two motors although some believe the Windsor to be a stronger motor. The PI heads are supposed to be interchangeable if the proper valve cover is used. Performance for the plastic intake is the same for all 99-04 GTmotors. Ford had a recall notice concerning intakes that cracked. Not all cracked and cracked intakes were replaced with the aluminum reinforced one that became standard in 01.

look in the door jam i think it says what tranny it has. if it has the t45 its from the first half of 01, if its got teh 3650 its mid 01
Not neccesarily true mine was made in Jan of 01 and it has a T45 + a Romeo engine, so old tranny, new engine. You can get all sorts of crazy stuff with an 01!

Look, not everyone is savvy with mustangs here. I am mechanically inclined BUT I'm new to the mustang scene, so please don't tell me what I "should know"[&:]

I got told from the stealership that I have a Pro 5.0, I have not had time to actually take a loot at it. Its obvious its not stock so I took their word for it for now, until I take a look at it this weekend when I install the PP TB/Plenum. So I guess unless you have an answer to my question, were done here

Here's a quick way to ID your trans. If it has a drain plug on the very bottom then it's a T-3650, if the drain plug is on the side, it's a T-45[8D]
