Default Ticking, rattling noise from behind dash

My car is a 01 GT I just bought it with 81k on it. When Im giving it gas theres a ticking, rattling noise coming from behind the dash or maybe under the hood? It seems to ONLY happen when Im giving it gas. I havent determined too much more yet. But it also seems its when Im above 3k rpms is when it starts and goes away once Im cruising. So only under semi to hard acceleration.

ANY ideas are welcome.

It could be a million things.

First thing you can do is put the car in park or neutral depending on your transmission, have a long screw driver available. Put the screw driver on various parts of the engine while revving it, see if you can pinpoint where this noise is coming from.

get a piece of radiator hose, garden hose, or any type of hose. hold it to your ear with the engine running and put it to different spots in the engine bay, where ever u hear it the loudest is where the problem is.

I agree, there should be a big ticking thread. I have asked on a bunch of forums what my ticking sound could be and nobody gave a good answer. My car ticks when the gas pedal is pushed in just a little bit, but only when the car is moving. It will not make a sound when it is sitting still. I have been trying to figure out the problem for almost a year but I have had no luck. I even had the car looked at and I couldn't get a good answer. All I know is that it is not an exhaust leak despite what everyone tells me.
