Default need help in making my auto 00

Hey guys how are you doing. Hopefully good. At the moment i have a bassani x pipe witht eh bassani cat back system and a k&n air filter. I need help in order make my automatic fast and a force to be reckoned with. Before i got all the mods my 1/4 was a 14.99 which is pretty sad however I do have heavy chrome 18s and a full system including tvs, ps2, 2 12s, and a plexiglass box. Could someone give me some input in order to run low 12s or possible high 11s with my automatic. Thanks! Also who knows what 1/4 mile time does a stock automatic suppose to run?

First you're gonna need something to beef up that tranny (maybe not first, but that will be your handicap). A high-stall convertor is very important on a Ford AODE tranny in order to get the most out of it. I don't know how strong the clutches are in Ford's trannies are, but I'm sure someone does. Also, a good shift kit to firm up the shifts. All these will help it not only handle the power, but make sure you're getting all you can to the ground, cuz AODEs don't put very much to the ground. Headers would probably do you well with that setup, but I don't know whether you should go with long-tube or short-tube.. do some research. And none of these will do any good if you can't get the air in the car... MAC, Densecharger, BBK, these are all good CAI systems. A good P&P job wouldn't hurt; upper and lower intakes, heads, and getting the throttle body half-shafted (if GTs are anything like 232s). If you live near TX, I know some really good people that could do it for you for very little money compared to other shops. Or, you can send your heads/tb/intakes to them and they'll ship it back (more expensive, of course). I'd say that with DRs or cheater slicks (and maybe some lighter rims) that setup could probably get you deep in the 13s at least. After that, you start getting into cams, boring/stroking, and other setups that to tell the truth, I don't know much about. But if you want to go the less complicated way, a 100-150shot would do quite nicely on top of that setup.

Dump the stero and all the other crap and use the money to buy the parts you need. If you spent the money on the motor first you would probably be asking how can I make my car in to a parking lot thumper. But I did hear that with your subs aimed correctly and the right tune playing from Ja Rule the base wave helps the car accelerate*LOL*!!

That was mean I am sorry. Seriously, lose the stuff. It's like having atleast one extra body in the car when your dragging. A few hundred pounds makes a differance. Smaller rims would help improve launches from the line. 17's are ok but 16's would be best for dragging. If you want to be quickly into the 12's get a serious power adder. Blower, turbos, Nitrous. your pick.

Get a supercharger for starters. As for the matter of exhaust, H-pipe with long tube headers.(H-pipe will give you more low-end torque versus X-pipe)and as Silver wrote,"dump the stereo." Not to mention that the 18" rims are going to hurt you as well

supercharger for starters? Wouldn't it be better to do the other mods he'd do anyway besides the S/C, and see how he likes it. A $3500 "starter" probably isn't the best idea.

He wants to run 11's, and he aint gonna do that without spending that kind of money, and a good supercharger will put him real close

I think that maybe he underestimates how fast 11s is. You get that powerful, and it becomes semi-difficult for it to be a daily driver. Can't drive in the rain, blah blah blah. I say he does everything but the s/c. If he feels the need for more power, I'd do N20. I wouldn't do a $3500-$4000 S/C unless I was absolutely SURE that's what I needed/wanted.

With everyone and their brother braggin and lying about their speed he probably just want to be faster than them. Before I actually went to the track for myself, I was around drag racers for years. With everyone talking about thier "family" cars running 12's, I hear a stock 5.0 (back in 95) runs low 15's! I say, wtf! It just seems that as much as people brag about running 12's, if those people rode in an actual REAL 12 second car, they would probably sh! their pants.
