Default B&M Shifter

I have a 98 GT with automatic and I just bought a B&M Shifter and was wondering how hard it is to install by myself. The reason I bought it was because my current shifter has a little problem. Whenever the car has been sitting for more than a few hours and I want to shift out of park to drive and I have to press the black button on the side to move the shifter down, the black button becomes impossible to press and I cant shift the car. Five minutes of struggling and pushing the button usually solves the problem. I was told that this shifter would employ its own mechanism and I wouldnt have this problem anymore. Any thoughts or comments? Any experiences, please let me know.

Thanks,

Romeo
