Default New GT Needs Work!!!

it is a huge misconception to think nitrous is dangerous to your motor.. when done right its safe, and very practical as you only use it when you need it.. unlike blowers or turbos, which are in constant use, nitrous is only used wot . when its on.. don't knock it till you research it.. jeep has a ton of info on it and you should talk to him</P>

N2O is not only dangerous to the motor, its also hazardous to your health. It is highly combustible after all. I would sure hate to wreck my car with a 20 lbs of explosives in the trunk.<IMG alt=Dead border=0 onclick="AddSmileyIcon'smileys/smiley11.gif'" src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0">

It is not dangerous to the motor, with VERY simple tuning techniques it is SAFE. WAY less wear &amp; tear on a motor, than a turbo or supercharger will ever be. Plain and simple.</P>

If you want to look at it that way...I sure hope I never wreck my car after I fill my gas tank! <IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0"></P>

Gasoline is chemically more stable than N2O but you are right, if you wreck your car and the gas tank leaks, get out the marshmallows. Look at the Crown Victoria police cars blowing up.</P>

I just feel that N2O is dangerous, only my opinion.</P>

All high performance parts are harder on an engine.</P>

gdear66...it's not flammable silly...got can't lite a match to it and burn...
list of mods
if gas milage is important
3:27-3:55 gears
syn. oils etc..engine,trans,rear end
a better ignition
pulleys
a high # pcv valve
1-5/8 headers
0-4 degrees timing for long hauls
14 for playing
this will net about .3-.6 sec faster
and about 3-5 % better gas mileage
good luck
also any wt reduction as in rims/tires/back seat/junk in the trunk etc will help greatly<edited><editID>vfast</editID><editDate>37876.4583101852</editDate></edited>

Good point, I'd feel alittle iffy with it in my car also...</P>

But, high performance parts as nitrous, SC &amp; turbo are harder. Now, bolt on's like exhaust, headers, intake etc..are actually HELPFUL with prolonging the life of an engine - as long as you don't drive at WOT from point A to point B all day <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"></P>

The important phrase in tripseven's statement is"when done right."

You're right, be nice to the car and it will be nice to you.</P>

For the record, I never said that nitrous is flammable, merely combustible. Gasoline is extremely flammable, hence the marshmallow reference but it is also less combustible than nitrous. However in the event of a car wreck in which fire is not an uncommon event, a pressurized bottle of N2O in the trunk would make a nice fireworks display.</P>

ok, here is the decisions that i have thought about making...i talked to my friend, and one of the guys he knows has a cobra with 4.10 gears and said that they really didnt hurt the fuel mileage THAT MUCH, not as bad as youde think he said...so i thought about getting those for sure. my automotive teacher, (im still a senior in school) also told me that dualing out the exhausts and adding headers should help the gas mileage out too, if i didnt develope a heavy foot from the lil power i gain...are there any suggestions on wheels and tires???

You already have dual exhaust. 4.10's won't be too bad, just short shift (with 4.10's you can start moving in 2nd gear, throw her to 4th and cruise to 5th)</P>

Also, the bigger the wheels&amp; tires, the slower you go If you are going for ALL out performance, over looks - go no larger than 17's. </P>

If you upgrade to headers &amp; a better exhaust, along with an intake mod you'll probably retain the same gas mileage you get now. </P>
