I dont know what's wrong with it. when i step on the gas lightly it's fine but when i try to pass a car or try to speed up to get on the freeway it putters. what do u guys think it could be? spark plug related? Recently we had some flooding, could it be because of that?

I would do the easy possible fixes first. IMO run some Fuel Injector Cleaner through the fuel tank, and check your plugs for excess build up on plug. You might need to get the plugs replaced or get a better plug i.e. a split or quad fire plug to ensure better burn of the fuel. These are just opinions and I am NOT a Ford Mechanic, but i am one in the Army and that is what i would do to mine for this problem.

Then I would try scanning for any pending DTCs.May be a bad coil. They are fine under normal throttle but they will crap out when u get on it. If it is, it will throw a misfire cyl 1-8 code. That would run about 40 to fifty bucks i believe. Do you have an Air/Fuel gauge?

changed the fuel filter and it still does it. i'm bout to change the plugs and wires right now to see what that does. how do i do a scan for DTC's? And no i dont have an air/fuel ratio gauge.

i had the same problem, my plug wires (#8 mostly) had cracked around the boots and under heavy load they arced to the block. replaced the wires and works fine now.
