Default adjust timing?

I've got a 96 GT and i want 2 know how 2 determine wether or not the timing is adjusted correct. The reason is im overheating, I've flushed coolant, new water pump, 180 t-stat, new temp sensor. If its slow in time could'nt that cause it 2 overheat? And if so how do i go about adjusting it? Or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, you haver a module control box on the inside of your pass. fender that controls fan on/off and a few othe things. I would bet that it's bad unless your fan is!

that box has gone bad 2 times, the wiring harness was laying on the motor and burned a hole in the wiring and it caused that box 2 go out but havnt had any problems since they fixed it. but ill take that into concideration

normally you really can't change the timing on your engine without a tuner or something along those lines. but does it overheat right away or does it only do it after its been ran for awhile? does the fan kick on? do it in trafic or while moving? leaking any coolant? radiator cap maybe bad. thermostat might be stuck open(they have been known to be bad a lot right out of the box) jsut some things to look at, good luck
