That 70MM TB is doing you more harm than good right now. You dont have enough mods for it right now. Save the MAF's for s/c's and serious head work and cams. MAF's(Mass Air Flow meter is the cylindrical piece connected directly to your stock air intake box. Basically it measures air to your motor. While I dont claim to be an expert on them, you can get a larger one to improve air flow. However, if you dont have the mods to support a larger one, you're wasting your money. You should be able to achieve 300RWHP with your stock one but you'll HAVE to get PI heads to do it N/A.

he doesnt have to get a bigger maf, but even so it will only help airflow, them babys are worth just as much as a catback exhaust! Now, bigger throttle body will be a waste, but the stock maf is a big restrictor of air

Yep they are restrictive for sure. But if hes only wanting 300RWHP should he keep the stck MAF? I think his biggest obstacle are his heads(no pun intended)

ok, so maf is not good for me. i hate to say it, but PI heads are almost completely out of the question, too much $$$, but cams keep coming up. i looked up sean hylands site and they sell street/mild race cams that dont need a new set of heads or valvetrain to install, is this a good idea? if not, can i just port my existing heads or will that be a monsterous waste of time and cash?

Trash those heads. Ill be selling mine soon if interested. I havent come up with a price yet. They're in good condition and are on my car now. Don't try to buy the new, there are guys selling mustang parts all the time.Go to E-bay or check out: www.patriot-performance.com/
And no im no saying MAF isnt good for you, but untimately it wont be the determining factor in getting 300RWHP. I think you'll really appreciate some good heads especially with the fact you have a good exhaust setup. Speed is expensive.

ok on a your gt, a maf either pro m or c&l will net you a decent gain properly tuned.. cams and a new valvetrain would give you about a 50-75 hp gain with your current heads but the heads suck... the intake and exhaust is too small and oval.. pi heads fix all that... check to make sure your headers will work with new heads.. also intake manifold.. if you increase your maf, do it last and get larger injectors 24 to 30 lbs injectors normally aspirated.. pi heads, tb, maf, headers, cai, timing adjuster, you will probably be close to 285 at the rear wheels... frpp makes the 8046 with a killer intake that will give you straight up 60 hp, but is high as hell in price.

Theres a test you can actually perform yourself to determine if your MAF is restrictive
