my $.02 from several years of dreaming about superchargers and seeing this question asked a million times:

Centri - Big at the top end, great for drag racing as you don't have as much problem with wheel spin like you do with a KB/Twin-screw/Roots

KB - Full boost at 1500-2000rpm, insanely fun on the street and the boost is there any time you hit the gas, no lag, no wait... can cause significant wheel spin problems at the track though.

Turbo - Think Centri but MORE. capability of insane power, much more efficient than any of the superchargers... but the bigger the turbo, the more the lag.

Your choice..

My opinion... you want fun on the street and the once in a while run at the track? Go KB. You want to use the boost most of the time at the track and don't care about street driving... go centri. You want to have insane power, great track car and have people going "ohhhhh, ahhhhh" when the look under the hood? Go turbo.

With any of them, you need the forged short block if you're going over about 8 PSI. Saying, "go with the KB if you're staying with the stock SB is just silly. You can run low boost on any setup and a small turbo running only 8psi is going to spool up quicker and have less lag. The KB 2.1L kit can hit over 600RWHP... which is 200 more than you need to put a rod through the wall of your engine.

good luck!

For the blowers it seems the price is so high when compared to even a turbo kit. The only thing i really like about the chargers is that you don't have to hack the front of the car to get everything to fit. the chargers bolt right up with ease. If i was going to do one it would prolly be one of the superchargers for my 2v. but as far as the 4vs go. they respond so well to lots of boost.

+1. yeah, turbos tend to do better with engines with smaller displacements. Thats why you see so many turbo'd 4 straights.

S/C help the bigger cars with power (not as much as a turbo) and grip in the rear.

Well turbo's are definately becming more common in the V8 world. but it's not a daily driver type thing. It'd be nice to have it as a race car or weekend car.

I would like to see of this whipple you speak of. I'm sure whipple would like to know that their name is being used on a blower they aren't selling. And very few people actually have KBs. Most people have a vortech or procharger.

edit: spelling
