Default Electric Water Pump? Does it make a difference?

The electric water pump frees up your water pump pulley so the belt has less stress and spins faster, its simply replaced with a idler pulley.......is this thing worth $300??? does it actually make a damn HP difference? oh what in the hell do you do about underdrive pulleys with this thing since the waterpump pully is one?

Not sure on how much hp difference it would be, but its just the next step above using an underdrive pully on your water pump, freeing one of your pullies, meaning less hp loss from the belt system. enough to make a difference, not sure but could be worth it.

you would just install the crank and alternator pulleys and you would need a smaller belt than what it comes with. my buddy has one on his 98 cobra, he spent 200$ on it so try to find it cheaper (i havent researched prices btw so i dont know if he maybe got his used or what). they are claimed to be about 10hp (i dont have any proof what they actually do for hp, but it does eliminate some loss), i would not waste the money on it unless your water pump is already burned out and you gotta replace it anyways.

The underdrive pulleys the previous owner put on my car had to be replaced when I had the Procharger installed. I bought a new crank pulley, but instead of spending money to go backwards I bought an electric waterpump instead of a new waterpump pulley. The tuner said that he normally sees 350 rwhp (Mustang tuner) at 8 lbs of boost. Mine dialed in at 385. The BBK 75mm TB/Plenum has gotten 18-20 rwhp in independant tests. I attribute the rest of the increase to the electric water pump. Advertisements say 12 hp increase.

I've been running this set up for about 4,000 miles without any problems.

on the 4v motors the actully recomend going with the electric water pump over the underdrive pullys. they say the pullies will blow the gears off the oil pump on the 4v and you get the same gains as an electric waterpump as you will underdives. im not sure on the 2v tho but im sure its still the same gains.

electric waterpumps arent that much more than underdrive pullies and think if you ever blow your belt you will still be able to run your car with out it over heating.

Well after you install it you have to wire the damn thing up either to where it turns on when you start that car or to a toggle switch........is all this crap worth the trouble even with under drive pulleys already on the car??

Like mentioned above, it should only be done if your water pump fails, or if you have no where else to go to make power.
