i had a full bolt on gt minus gears and i thought it was cool till my buddy crane got a 01 cobra nad i couldnt beat him and he was stock. other than nittos. i sold it andgot a mach 1 and i love it. dont get 99 cobras unless they have been fixed by thedealer. they are horid cars. the cobra has irs with alot of work it will be good for drag racing. where the mach has a solid rear. the cobra looks like a cheap v6 with a nice bumper bc of the hood where the mach has the bad *** shaker hood.

its up to you what do you want. a car that gets good gas(gt) or a car that gets good responces to mods(cobra/mach)
Good response to mods FTW!!

So get a Cobra and pay $400-$500 for a better looking hood if you want. The double vented Stalker Hoods are pretty killer to me. But it's whatever you want. I wouldn't let something like a hood make my decision for me though.

but you will still have the ****ty irs. but thats why ford made 2 differnt models of the 4 v. one that looks like a sleeper with the v6 nasty hood and nice bumper or one with a killer hood and a gt bumper.

and cost alot of money.

figure cams are 1200 you need install and everything your looking around 2k for just cams get heads worked. i dont know how much that cost. while your at it you should throw a fr500 intake on it or get your ported for cheaper. so all together for hci you should be around spending 5k. than exhaust with headers 1200-1500, underdrives 180, cai 200, tune 450. so over in all your looking 7500 for full bolt ons and that is with out suspension work.

yeah butwith a forged 2v he can put a blower on for a couple grand and put over 500 to the pavement. long run 4v is better but an already forged 2v is a great start also.

12g isnt a bad price for it (as that motor work cost a lot...ask for reciepts though otherwise its just heresay)

but has the gt had anything else done to it? replaced or reinforced tranny? clutch? axles?

4v does respond much better to bolt ons, and its got a higher redline

the forged gt wouldnt be bad at all though, already forged you can get a blower and put down 500+ rwhp (the motor can take it but youll still have to get new axles, maybe a new tranny if that hasnt been swapped or beefed yet).

what all else is done to the GT and whats its pricetag sitting at?
The GT I found is a 2000 with 63,000 miles. All forged internals with amany bolt ons. Car looks great w/ suspension work and what looks like Nitto drags on the back. Guys asking $11,999 what do you guys think?

And yes in general I love the look of the cobras and the 4v engine, especially the two tone interior!
I would buy the GT. The motors alreadybuilt. The chassis already built. To get 500 + rwhp all you need is a supercharger. You will smoke any and all Mach 1s and Cobras (except maybe the '03/04) unless they too have been built and supercharged. You will also beat stock 03/04 Cobras.
