how long does it take to prime the oil pump. I tried cranking it to prime the pump abut 6 times at around 10 seconds each time. The gauge never moved. I pulled the oil filter off and tried it and no oil came out.

Thats what I was saying, it doesn't work. You have to use the technique above with the sprayer thing...

When assembling the oil pumpyou need to fill it with some grease, vasoline, or something like that (something that will stay put as you bolt it together) to prevent an air pocket. The oil pump is terrible at moving air and could actually cause you to run with no oil pressure at all. I'm not sure about the 4.6L, but the old school way to prime an engine is to pull the distributor and spin the pump with a good strong electric drill until you get pressure, then rotate the engine 90 degrees and continue, then 90 more degrees and continue. This will get oil to all the passages.

where is the fuel pump fuse or relay, so I don't have to keep my foot on the pedal. I want to be sure there is no fuel going through it.

I pulled the fuel pump fuse and cranked it for about 15 sec and watched my oil presure build to 20psi then put the fuse in and started the car. Take it up to 2000rpms and hold it right after you start it for about 10 min. That will insure that the lash adjusters and chain tensioners fill up and it will wash away the assembely lube. Then change the oil.
