on your car, runnin at80 mph on the interstate in 5th is gonna put you around3000 rpm with 4.10's, vs 2200 or so with your stock 3.27's ( I assume). Mileage should IMPROVE around town, unless you always are kickin it cause of all your extra torque to the pavement. Interestate mpgwill definately go down though, how much depends on how fast you drive.

Thats true in the old 5.0's, but on the 4.6's they go a lil steeper, partly because of the tire size difference, partly because of the higher redline, and the .67 on his and .63 on my 5th gear ratio.</P>

I think 3.73 is gonna be a better choice. 4.10 is really best for the track. Its true your mileage around town will improve if you're nice to the pavement but in reality who wants to be nice to the street? The 3.55 won't make a noticeable difference, at least that's what people have told me. 3.73 is the nice intermediate. You get better acceleration over stockwithout taking a nosedive on gas. Out in Cali I am sure you can appreciate that.<IMG onclick="AddSmileyIcon'smileys/smiley2.gif'" alt=Wink src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>
I am installing 3.73's this weekend.</P>

i prefer not fear the reaper...but yeah, short shifting is choice. if that doesnt work for ya try your own pattern...just dont blow anything up lol. actually thats unlikely seeing as you're upshifting as opposed to downshifting which is never good to go too far off...BOOM!

its been said on here that jacking the car up and turning the driveshaft and noting when the wheels have fully turned works...in theory it makes sense. but some gear ratios get mighty close(ie 3.55 3.73) <edited><editID>Jugador</editID><editDate>37893.8550115741</editDate></edited>
