Default Pro Motion T45?

Well I managed to damage my stock T45 at the track the other day ( too many speed/power shifts I guess ) and now it sounds like I have an eaton blower in there during accel mostly in 1st 3rd and 5th, and makes odd howling noises under decel too so my guess its it trash. Just hope it will last me another week or 2. Anyway, there is a guy in town with a brand new Pro Motion T45 for sale for $850. Its the one with the carbon synchros, 26 spline input shaft, cryo 3/4 fork, HD T/O tube, basically the best one they make. What I want to know is are this companies transmissions any good? I can't seem to find much info on them. And yes I know the t45 is an iffy transmission at best but this one is cheaper than doing a TKO 500/600 swap ATM. Thanks in advance!

are you trying to keep it cheap? if not..and you have a bit more cash I would recomend a t-56 transmission instead..it is built to last and race. I have seen kits from 1500-2200.

a t56 transmission isnt gonna be any stronger unless you buy a viper spec............ which in turn is about 4000 for the swap.

Are you sure the trans has all the work done to it that they say?

For 850 bucks, it seems like a deal to me if its the real deal and has low/no miles on it. The 45 isn't the best trans in the world, but if the syncroniser problems + strengthed parts are installed then its better than a busted one.

HOwever, I would not be convinced that just because your hearing noise that yours is going out. It might be, and it might not, but usually the first sign of 45 trouble is that it starts to grind when going into gear.

The only prob with going to a t-56 is it is terrible off the line compared to the t-45 of the same rear gear ratio. You would need some hefty gears, which is a good idea anyways since it has that extra overdive that knocks those 4:30's to prairie gears!......lol

The guy has the receipt from PMP when he bought the trans with all the upgraded parts listed, and he's a well known local Mustang guy so I doubt he would try and rip me off.

And the whole not grinding thing has got me confused. The trans "sounds" like its tearing up but still shifts smooth as the day I bought the car. Sure its a little notchy sometimes going into 2nd and reverse but Id figured that was kinda normal. Also the noise ( both the whine under accel and the howl under decel ) disappear when you push the clutch in. Can a bad TO bearing cause any of these issues?

actually i think it might be the throw out bearing, i have a 96 g.t and sometimes its a pain throwing it in reverse. shifting gears are sometimes rough too, but either way the T-45 is just bull for the most part, i'd invest in getting a whole new tran.
