+1000----- I hope you did not change the plugs without a torque wrench. If you did you are likely looking at the above prediction. According to the shop manual for my car, they should be tourqed to 11-13 foot pounds. My neighbor did the ones on his `02GT by "feel", & wound up with something like a $500 repair bill[&o]

haha your psychic powers. You better be wrong. I think I can tell if I crossthread a sparkplug. It's not too difficult to torque them down properly by feel vs. a torque wrench.

Well I guess since Ford doesn't know what they are doing I'll go get a damn torque wrench and make sure they are at 13 lbs.

You can get a "beam" type wrench from sears & go broke for around $20.00 on sale. You don`t need one of those fancy/expensive "click" ones

i've swapped my plugs out at least four times and i've never used a torque wrench.... not saying that you shouldn't use one but a calibrated arm helps when you don't have one

lol...well it's kinda been one of those things where nothing is going right. I couldn't find my plug socket, which i think a neighbor borrowed and never brought back, plus I didn't have the right extension, again thanx to the neighbor, so I had to put 2 3" extensions together one 3/8 and one 1/2 with adapters then my socket is really tough to get on the plugs because the rubber is so new. But I got one plug out and I wasa little nervous after I started reading how many people are blowing plugs out of the heads so I torqued it down to 15lbs and now I can't get the socket off. So it's just been a series of things not all necesserely related to the actual work of changing the plugs.
Yea I torqued the 1 that I got in. I hand tightened it until I couldn't anymore then I torqued it.

15 lbs is a little much they call for 11-12 lbs

If you do something like crossthread the plug, you surely would know it, right? I mean you'd feel it really snug up when it bottoms out if it's threaded correctly. If you crossthread it...it's going to just spin I would think..no? Man I read crap about people having experiences with blown plugs and stuff and I start thinking $hit I hope I didn't crossthread one or whatever, you know worse case scenario type of stuff. so in the event you do blow a plug...you either get the threads repaired or get a new head. What's a new head run..$500? Install?
