How to clean an EGR Valve?
Hey Guys, My wife's 05' V6 car ( I know, wrong section but 4.6 is where the knowledge is) has been throwing the CEL for the EGR. I submitted a post and a few guys said it was more than likely just a piece of carbon caught in the valve. I have the EGR off of the car now but I didn't want to just start spraying carb cleaner or something like that into it without asking first. I have an air compressor so I thought that I just might blow it out but I would like to use a cleaner if it is ok.

Good one 1fstblkgt! Oxi Clean, why didn't I think of that? One question though. How in the hell does someone join MF on 9/25/07 (79 days ago) and have 1288 posts? Get af'in life!

Fair enough 1fstblckgt! I used carb cleaner and blew it out. I made sure to keep it away from the electrical connectors. I re-set the computer and the light is off. Who knows!
