ya i have the same problem once in awhile and i cleaned my IAC and it didnt help, where can you buy that special tool the hexhead with the hole in the middle to get the MAF sensor out so i can clean that?

Also check your PCV. PCVs get grindy and dirty and start to stick after a while. They're all about vaccuum so they're all about idle as well. Plus they'relike $2.00

I wouldn't like an idle at 500 rpms anyway. It should be at about 650-675 rpms. Like everyone said check the IAC, MAF sensor, a tune up couldn't hurt, and check the fuel filteer.
