Default 2v Stang GT timing PLEASE HELP

Ok, so I've got the directions to time my motor. I'm only timing the driver side. I followed the steps by putting the timing marks on the gears 28 links in between. I need to know how to be sure it is right. If my cam is 180 degress off will there definately be interference? I mean there should be right? If my cam is on the exhaust stroke but my engine is on the compression stroke it would definately cause interference right? Or will it not cause interference either way? The only thing i have to work with are my keyway degrees (right now it's at 12 o clock) and my driver side cam lobes and sprocket. I can see the crank sprocket but not very well because i have my crank pulley and piggy back pulley on the crank to turn it. Please help! I would love to get this thing back running by this weekend!
