Weird Noise comming from tranny

The other day i was leaving my parkng lot and its was aobut 35-40 degrees outside, i took off and only from about 1k-3k rpms do i hear a really loud whining noise comming from the front of the tranny where it connects with the engine. it only does it from a dead stop and ive only noticed it during really cold weather when the car has just been started and running, it usually doesnt do it as much if at all after the car has fully warmed up. Does anybody know what this could be? it never did it before so im assuming somthing is wrong. My trannsmission also slips when on the high way and i give it gas to upshift it revs really high then it jumps and jerks the car really hard occasionally doesnt do it on everyupshift just some. I have the 4R70W automatic 2000 mustang gt. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks
