Removing the Air Silencer

Removing the Air Silencer
I was just wondering what would the difference be if a '02 GT had its stock air silencer removed. I took mine off of my 6er and i could tell there was a better throttle response. Would it do the same for the GT? What about if they had cat-back exhaust?

RE: Removing the Air Silencer
from personal experiance and seeing someone actually dyno different air silencer setups.... the most gain actually comes from cutting the silencer
by this i mean cutting it right about where it enters the fender.... by doing this it opens it up a it to suck in more air, but also continues to suck air from the fender well which is cooler air than if you completely remove the silencer and draw air from the engine compartment
i general youll get maybe 3-4 HP removing it and 6-7 by actually cuttting it.... hope this helps you

Yeah right, if you could see 6-7 hp from this mod, it would be the best 'free mod' known to man.
You'll be lucky to see 1hp.

RE: Removing the Air Silencer
Anytime you give your engine more air it gets a better throttle response. Engines are all about air. How much they take in (intake) and how much they put out (exhaust). Thats what a supercharger does, it compresses more air to go into your engine. It will not be much if any. Just try it. You can always put it back on.
